Clinical Internship at Christ Special School

Dr. Jennifer Gills from Binghamton University, USA, introduced the proposal for the Christ Special School (CSS) to create a child-centered, best-practice model program to enhance outcomes for children with ASD and neurodevelopmental disabilities. It was designed as a Centre for Collaboration, Research & Service. Under the supervision of Dr. Uma Krishnan, the Practice Wing facilitated a structured clinical internship at CSS to provide students with comprehensive exposure to child assessment and intervention practices. The internship involved a formal selection process including SOP screening and interviews, ensuring preparedness for clinical training, allowing interns to engage in case history taking, behavioral observation, and administration of standardized assessments such as MISIC, VSMS, and BKT under supervision. A key strength of the approach is its multidisciplinary approach where collaboration among those involved could be observed along with their regular supervision and feedback.
